Assimilator Web Crawler

Assimilator is a handy tool for automatic search and download of files from the web. The approach is like to drift net fishing for files. AWC will extract all the links from a web page and then parse them for files. Any files matching the type and name specifications will then be queued for downloading. Any links that aren’t files will be queued for parsing and then the process repeats with the next page found. This idea is based on a sort of six degrees of separation theory, i.e. If you know site that contains information related to what your looking for, chances are it will have a link to another related site that my have more information or files that you are searching for. This works well with using a search engine results page.

Can't Someone Else Do It

CSEDI is a remote download engine. The aim of this software is primarily to control the download activity of a remote computer. This would give the user the ability to surf the net just about anywhere but have all files they download done remotely on their computer at home.

Captains Log

Captains log will be a lightweight application for maintaining a journal or log file. I am developing it primarily for use during the development of software. Initially it is hoped to be a simple text file generator, with the user running at the end of the day or programming session to record bugs, fixes and changes. At any stage during the project, the user can output a report of the history of the projects development.

Check Mail

Check mail is a small program that monitors an email account. It can monitor a single IMAP of POP3 account. When new mail is discovered a sound will play and a dialog box pops up informing you of the number of new messages. This product was developed for both Mac and Windows operating systems. Check Mail 2 is an expansion on the original above. CM2 allows for multiple accounts and has been designed with expansion in mind. The protocols have been implemented using plugins, which are easily edited with any text editor. Current plugins available are IMAP, POP3 and SMTP (for testing). It is hoped to expand to include checking of web based Email services like Hotmail and Yahoo. Also features like auto forwarding, ignoring and auto reply are to be developed using a similar plugin system.

DICToMatic

DICToMatic is a small utility that (for the moment) consists mainly of a global floating window. When the user clicks a popup menu is displayed containing all the words on the clipboard. Once a word is selected Define then logs onto an internet dictionary and quickly receives one or many definitions.

Head to Toe

Head to toe is tool to apply a single header and footer to a number of web pages. This site in fact has been created using it. It has a macro feature to add specific changes to the header and footer for each page (such as the changing colours in the java script menu's you see here).

HTTPGet

HTTPGet is a small utility for simply recieving and analyzing raw data over HTTP (simular to wGet for Linux). It was developed for testing the underlying HTTP engine used in Assimilator. It was never really meant as a stand alone Aapplication but I thought it might prove useful so have included it here.

MotorMouth

Motor Mouth is a small background application that utilises Microsoft Text To Speech engine to read the contents of a certain window or the clipboard. The motivation behind this project is aimed at use in conjunction with email and chat programs.

MP3 Weasel

Scans your drives and network shares for mp3 files and then displays the results in an explorer tree fashion organised by artist and album. Also generates play lists in same categories as well as generating a master list of all mp3's found. Currently only searches using information from filename i.e. "artist-album-##-track.mp3" support for ID3 tags is in development. Using Winamp or simular MP3 Weasel can cue songs or albums directly from the tree interface.

NetClip

NetClip is a background utility that allows you to not only share your clipboard contents across a local area network, but to completely synchronise a shared clipboard between a group of computers.
